Troy's Update

Things have been a little crazy and my apologies for falling behind on updates....
Troy was blessed with a new Kidney on December 8, 2020. Surgery went well and Troy and his donor our both home recovering well. The holidays were different this year but much more blessed than normal. We are all so thankful for Troy's Gift of Life and for his donor that offered such a generous gift. Hope everybody had a wonderful holiday season and is off to a great New Year like we are!

A couple of weeks ago Troy and Bridgett were having a normal Sunday gathering at a neighbors house. Little did Troy and Bridgett know, that normal Sunday would turn into a huge celebration. A neighbor of Troy's made a tear jerking announcement...he is a match and will be Troy's kidney donor. There was not a dry eye in the house....even Troy cried! He never cries! He was so overwhelmed by the generosity of his neighbor Cary and his wife, Kelley. Troy and Bridgett will be forever grateful!

It's just a few days before the fundraiser, Troy and Bridgett are feeling completely overwhelmed by all of the love and support they have received from everybody. They can not begin to figure out how they will ever say thank you. Please know that they will forever be grateful for everything that each and everyone of you have done.
Aside from being worried and tired, Troy is still feeling pretty good and still able to live life as he normally would. Bridgett has been his rock and they remain hopeful that a transplant is coming soon!

Troy and Bridgett spent the afternoon with the surgeon (no matching donor yet) for another routine step in the process prior to transplant. Troy is a rare B blood type. The good thing is that there are a few options for potential donors when it comes to blood type and matching. Troy and Bridgett, as well, as the transplant team continues to be optimistic. They would like you all to know that they could not do any of this with out all of you! Thanks so much for the continued support and shares of Troy's story and his need for a living kidney donor.
Troy's Story
Looking for a Living Donor Kidney
Troy was diagnosed with Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) three years ago. PKD is one of the most common, life-threatening genetic diseases and the fourth leading cause of kidney failure. Those who inherit PKD develop fluid filled cysts on both kidneys which cause decreased kidney function and eventually kidney failure. There is no known treatment or cure for PKD.
Troy recently learned that his kidney function has reached critical levels and the need for a transplant is crucial. Our hope is that we can find a living donor prior to the need for dialysis treatments. Some research shows that little or no time on dialysis prior to transplant can lead to better long-term health.
We are asking for everyone to spread the word regarding Troy’s desperate need for a kidney. The more people we reach, the better chance we have to find a living donor match.
